After a bad weekend, Vettel said that his car had “way less grip” in Australia than it did in preseason testing a couple of weeks ago.
Ferrari was considered the team to beat after preseason, but in Melbourne their performance was lackluster. Vettel e Leclerc qualified over 7 tenths behind the fastest time and finished the race nearly a minute after Mercedes’ Bottas.
Asked about what changed in Ferrari’s car to justify the bad pace, Vettel said: “If you want to be fair, then way less grip”
“All weekend, summing up, I didn’t get that confidence that I had in Barcelona” he continued. “I think our performance in some corners was really good, but the majority of corners it wasn’t”.
